Literature, in its varying forms, is a portal to magic in the human realm that we reside in. Through a novel, short story, play, drama or poem, we are able to live a thousand lives, travel to numerous worlds and experience the deepest human emotions. Poetry, in my opinion, is the most poignant form of literature with the power to mesmerise and transform even the most obstinate heart. This love for poetry is what evoked relentless excitement within me when I first heard of the revival of “Colombo Poets”. As the Head of Communication of this meaningful initiative, I wish that the spark of poetry is spread across Sri Lanka and sincerely hope that poets from across the island bless us with the opportunity to showcase their bewitching talents!
